Busy In Guatemala

We are here in the Rio Dulce. In town everyone is as busy as if this is a big city. We are doing boat projects with the new saws we brought with us from the US. Really Hot temperatures, but it does not bother the locals.

Heavy traffic.

Truck going through town picking up riders. They hauled in cows this morning.

Mangos are in season.

ladies, you can buy your underwear on the street.

Even though we are very busy we still like seeing how other people live. The adventure goes on.

Back In Guatemala

Sorry we miss our blog last week but we were so busy. We are back home on our boat Pamela Ann in the Caribbean now and it’s hot. The trip back was tiring as it is most of the time. Flew into Guatemala City on a cheap flight. Had a connecting flight and both flights they put us up front in the good seats. I told Pam they were just being nice to us as I become famous for my art. The word is spreading. She said, ” If the word is spreading, it’s their felling sorry for us and we need to sell something sometimes. We did two art shows and sold nothing back in the states this time. One of our shows was near a collage where we my have made some contacts to get our test book we wrote “Little Lies” published. Through a real publisher. We are doing the cover now and the book has been formatted now. One step at a time. It seems that we have been working on selling a book for years now and there is no money in selling a book unless it hits hard in some way. I think most people just want to see there name out there. Pam and I and our boat the ‘Pamela Ann” we built all ourselves and went sailing on for years now has made newspapers been in the series Dawson’s Creek on TV and in magazines. Were not out there hunting fame. We have wrote four books and hope this test book will lead the way to get one published today for the money some way. We are old now and a little extra money would be nice to keep living the life style of a cruiser and we can keep on traveling. Remember we just got back with flying on planes, cab rides and a long bus ride to get there to the USA and back here. Maybe we are all blinded by the trees looking for the forest some times. The boat was in good shape, this time when we got back. Last time it was a mess with lots of water damage and pointing out blame is worthless. She is getting back in shape now but we spent all the money we made on our trip before this last one where we did sell some art working on her. This bring us to this last trip from the US this week. I needed better tools here. Mainly a pull miter box so we took the one I use in the US to make pitcher frames and all the parts out of a table saw there to make me a table saw here. We packed all this taken apart in pieces and packed them in our luggage. A whole pull miter box and all the parts to build a table saw. Over weight and now how to drag these bags around in airports and the bus station? Had to pay extra on the plane and in the bus station. Seven dollars extra there for the bus, what a deal. I have the plywood to build the table saw and have done this for years as we travel using a skill saw up side down bolted to plywood but this time we have the real working parts to build a real wooden table saw.

Got the miter saw back together and working on table saw.

Some of the jungle around us.

People we meet say they can hear our southern accent when we talk. We don’t hear it. Some people say we don’t live a normal life and building a wooding wood table saw out of wood goes to that. I’m sure lot of people have home made wooding table saws built out of wood to cut wood to work on old home built schooner with howler monkeys in the jungle you can hear from our boat in the early morning and a weaver bird building a nest in the rigging. Were not ready to go sailing so the baby birds are safe for now.

We are getting old now but the adventure goes on.
